Pumpkin Seed Hummus Recipe
Pumpkin Seeds are an amazing food for the prostate. Pumpkin seeds are rich in zinc, carotenoids and phytosterols which are have been shown to support prostate health. By nourishing the prostate as we get older, us men are able to minimize our risk of BPH(Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia) which is an enlarging of the prostate that can contribute to erectile dysfunction. This recipe also contains 4 other Dick Diet Foods: cayenne, garlic, tahini and onion. In order to minimize chemical exposure, it is best so source each of these ingredients organic when possible.
Ingredients:
1.5 cups pumpkin seeds, soaked in water for 4 hours
1.5 cups garbanzo beans
2 tablespoons cold-pressed extra virgin olive oil
1/4 cup of tahini(preferably raw)
2 cloves of garlic
1/4 Cup white onion, chopped
1/4 Cup of lemon juice
1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
Directions:
Place all of the ingredients in a high-powered food processor or blender and blend until smooth. You may have to add additional water as you process the ingredients. The pumpkin seeds should blend together with the garbanzo beans to create a a thick dip-like consistency. It will be slightly green and taste like a richer and nuttier version of traditional hummus. It can be enjoyed with fresh veggies, crackers or pita bread.
